For the small boat angler, a harbour can often spell better fishing than just outside, and for boat or shore fishing, a harbour can offer a sheltered and plentiful alternative to other areas. Langstone is no exception. During the summer, the inner harbour, Marina and all of the small channels are alive with Mullett and school Bass, Mackerel can be found in the deeper channels along with some monster bass. During June or July, Bream, some up to 2lb, flood into the harbours, providing easy pickings for anglers. In the Autumn an influx of eels, pollack and flounders accompany the cod and whiting. Even in the dead of winter, the harbour is often the best place to pick up the flounders. Spring once again sees the plaice and bass arriving.
